Chris Holder moved into overall third place in the Australian Championships at the halfway stage when, aboard equipment loaned from former Pirate Leigh Adams, he finished runners-up to Jason Doyle in the A final at Mildura, Victoria on Monday.
IIn temperatures of 36 degrees at the start of the meeting, Holder boosted his chances of retaining his national title with two wins and three second places to book an automatic berth in the A final alongside Doyle and Justin Sedgmen.
They were joined by Tyson Nelson who won the B final repercharge ahead of Josh Grajczonek, Max Fricke and Sam Masters, whilst Dakota North, a finalist in the opening round missed out with just 8 points, after winning his first ride of the night.
Doyle maintained his dominance of the series todate with a victory in that A final, Holder finishing ahead of Sedgmen with Nelson in fourth.
